"BORDERLINE"
Colegiul
National Mihai Eminescu-borderline
2005 - 2007
BORDERLINE is a Socrates - Comenius 1 project, with the title ” The frontier: a no man’s land, a passage way, bridge and barrier between people, countries, stories", financed by the European Commission. In this European partnership are involved 7 schools from six countries.
Project coordinator: prof. HUDREA MARIANA
Liceo Scientifico Statale”Galileo Galilei”, Belluno, Italy – coordinating institution
Liceum Ogólnoksztalcace, Tarnów, Poland
Gymnasium, Vaduz, Fürstentum Lichtenstein
”Mihai Eminescu” National College, Baia Mare, Romania
”Mihail Kogalniceanu” Theoretical Highschool, Vaslui, Romania
Licée du Granier, La Ravoire, France
Gymnazium Galejova, Kosice, Slovakia
The project plans to approach the idea of frontier from both physical and metaphorical points of view, dealing with its positive aspects (a bridge to something new, a place of possibilities), the problematic ones (the frontier as a barrier, as a limit, as an obstacle) as well as the frontier as a possible ignition poit for a conflict (the issue of choice and belonging).
The basic idea of the project is to get to know the people who are different from us, to learn and respect the others, to discuss the feeling of identity.
On the other hand, while respecting individual characteristics, the project intends to also approach the general integration values, the idea of inter-cultural understanding and territory.
All these are to be done based on research into the different aspects of the discussion and objective data (particularly historical, economic and legal), but also on the life experiences, personal stories and testimonies of people living in frontier areas , expressed through different forms of art.
The outcome of this project is expected to be, on the one hand, in the form of personal development of the participants as citizens, and, on the other hand, in the form of cultural development. The main goal, however, is to build education for a Europe without barriers and frontiers, without obstacles which could impede the dialogue between peoples.
